The Best Buffalo Hummus Dip

This creamy buffalo hummus dip is the perfect appetizer or snack bursting with tangy and spicy flavor! Serve it up with some crisp veggie sticks or your favorite cracker, and you’ll have the perfect appetizer or afternoon snack! Hummus hack: I love to use this as a spread on turkey sandwiches, on toast with an over easy egg, or on salads as as tasty and flavorful addition!

If you’re a parent to teenagers, I’m sure you know the struggle of having unprocessed, healthy, quick, and tasty snacks on hand. I love to make this buffalo hummus for the week with lots of pre-cut veggies for when my kids and I are looking to fuel up in between meals. You will love how easy this is to make and how much your family will love it!

Why Chickpeas are So Good for You!

The humble little chickpea is one of my favorite legumes!  I love to add them to soups, roast them, make hummus with them and sprout them for salads!  Loaded with nutrients, you can’t go wrong with this powerhouse little bean.

Aside from having several vitamins, minerals, balanced macros (CHO, protein, fats), fiber, and antioxidants, these little nuggets have many health benefits!

Due to the awesome protein, fat and fiber content, chickpeas have a low glycemic index and may help to regulate blood sugar, and will keep you full and satisfied longer.  As a great source of plant protein, chickpeas contain certain amino acids that help to support health [1]:

  • Histidine: necessary for the production of histamine and also plays a role in nervous system health
  • Valine: necessary in energy production as well as muscle growth and repair
  • Phenylalanine: building block for neurotransmitters like dopamine and epinephrine (adrenaline), and in the production of other amino acids.
  • Leucine: necessary in stimulating wound healing, muscle repair, and blood sugar regulation.
  • Isoleucine:  necessary in immune function and energy regulation.

So grab some chickpeas and let’s get cooking!

The Best Buffalo Hummus Dip Ingredients

2 jars Sprouted Chickpeas*

1/4 cup Unsalted Tahini

1/3 – 1/2 cup Noble Made Buffalo Sauce**

1/4 cup Unrefined EVOO

¼ cup Fresh Lemon Juice

2 Cloves Garlic

¾ tsp Fine Real Salt

Filtered Water as needed for consistency

Veggie Sticks, Seed Crackers, Spiced Crackers

*Remove the skins for a smoother hummus (I like to keep the whole legume intact)

** Check to make sure your buffalo sauce does not contain sugar…and use your favorite heat level!

How to Make The Best Buffalo Hummus Dip

1. Add everything to a food processor and process 2-3 mins until smooth

2. Add water 1-2 Tablespoons at a time to thin as needed for desired consistency.

Q: I cannot find the sprouted chick peas, can I use 15oz cans to make buffalo hummus?

A: Yes, and I would increase the amount of buffalo sauce to 1/2 – 2/3 of a cup for the added chickpeas.

Q: How long will buffalo hummus last?

A: Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, buffalo hummus will last about a week.

Q: Can I use Frank’s hot sauce to make buffalo hummus?

A: Of course, I just like Noble Made because it has added spices and a delicious flavor!
